One of Sweden's oldest runic stones - Kalleby-stone

Not long after me and Gorm left the motorway (E6) between Gothenburg in Sweden and Oslo i Norway, we came to Church of Tanum, nicely placed somewhere between the motorway and the rock carvings of Tanum. We walked around the church before we realized the stone was across the road. We just missed it because we had our focus on the sign telling us we were at the right church.

Kalleby-stone is known being one of  the oldest runic stones in Sweden, and it is believed to be from the 5th century. It has its name from being found used as a bridge across the river of Kalleby, 6 kilometres from Church of Tanum, where it is today. Nobody knows where it was located from the beginning. It is, however, carved with the older futhark - an older runic alphabet that was exchanged in the 8th century.

Placed against the external wall of Church of Tanum, we found those big stone doors.
